Scathing attack on Congress, Bihpuria MLA Bhupen Kumar Bora made three big allegations against the Congress.
Pankaj Nath, Assam, May 8:
Assam’s BJP MLA from Bihpuria Assembly constituency Bhupen Kumar Bora today made several big allegations against the Congress party. Bhupen Bora said the opposition party was not only becoming a hindrance in the development of the state but also expanding the scope of negative politics to mislead the general public. The MLA said that in the last few years, the Congress has not played a constructive role in the policy-making process of Assam, but has only tried to create a rift in the trust of the people through criticism and counter-allegations. He said the Congress leadership was struggling with its internal differences and that was why it was not able to pay attention to the real issues of the state. Bhupen Bora also accused the Congress of trying to mislead the public through “negative politics” and portraying development works in a political form. He said that instead of showing the ongoing schemes and development works by the government, the Congress is presenting it as a “mere drama” or “propaganda”, which is dangerous for democracy. At the same time, Bhupen Bora also claimed that now the public knows the truth at the ground level and is rejecting the politics of fake promises. He said that BJP MLAs and district leadership are going from village to village to put out the reality of the schemes, while the Congress is limited to only protesting and making allegations. Analysts believe that Bhupen Bora’s allegations today are part of the strategy to create an atmosphere among the public along with the upcoming debates in the state assembly. It is also being indicated by the BJP leadership that counter-campaigns will be intensified at the ground level against opposition parties like the Congress. Shortly, It can be said that today’s criticism of Bhupen Kumar Bora is not just a personal attack in name, but a part of the BJP’s broader political strategy, in which the opposition is clearly presented as an “obstruction” and the government as a “development-oriented” leadership.
